In 1989, John Quattlebaum and Tommy Strickland decided to start a nursery in Statesboro, GA. John and Tommy's original idea was to develop a progressive B&B plant material and liners grown from genetically improved seed. The company was named Southland Seed and Tree and was incorporated in May of 1993.

As the nursery grew, John and Tommy began to develop an interest in cultivars and realized that cultivars, not seed, would be the preferred source for nursery liner stock and B&B plant material in the future for the green industry. Because of these conclusions and the interest the founders had in locating and producing cultivars, the company's name was changed from Southland Seed and Tree to Future Trees, Inc. in 1995. Future Trees, Inc. better reflects the founder's vision, direction, and focus of locating, developing, propagating, and growing unique, quality cultivars for the green industry that to date have not been available.

As a result of these efforts, Future Trees now has approximately 85 acres in B&B production with the majority of our fields filled with the new cultivars mentioned below. Future Trees has also developed 18,000 sq.ft. of greenhouse space and has over five acres of container pad space for propagation purposes. Future Trees also became the first nursery in North America to produce oak liners from cuttings in commercial quantities, and has participated in the development of many new plants for introduction into the green industry. It is our hope that as you get to know us, you will find that Future Trees holds a wealth of experience to help you with the problems you are facing, offers superior customer service, and offers unique plant material that is of the highest quality in our industry.
